As they approached the river, the group noticed an eerie calm on the water's surface, which only heightened their sense of foreboding. They prepared to cross the river, unaware that a powerful and malevolent being awaited them beneath the water—the Golden-Headed Fish Demon.

The Golden-Headed Fish Demon’s Attack

The Golden-Headed Fish Demon was a fearsome creature with immense strength and a deep-seated hatred for mortals. He had been lurking in the Flowing Sands River for centuries, preying on any travelers who dared to cross. The demon’s golden head was both his pride and his power, granting him the ability to command the waters and manipulate the river’s currents.

As Tripitaka and his disciples began to cross the river, the Golden-Headed Fish Demon sensed their presence and prepared to strike. He created powerful whirlpools and waves to disrupt their passage, separating the group and throwing them into disarray. The demon then targeted Tripitaka, intending to capture him and use his flesh to enhance his own power.

Wukong’s Defense

Wukong, always vigilant, quickly realized the danger they were in. He saw the Golden-Headed Fish Demon rising from the depths, his golden head gleaming ominously in the water. Without hesitation, Wukong sprang into action, using his magical staff, the Ruyi Jingu Bang, to fend off the demon’s attacks.

The battle between Wukong and the Golden-Headed Fish Demon was intense, with the river’s waters churning violently around them. The demon used his control over the water to try and overpower Wukong, creating massive waves and whirlpools to throw him off balance. However, Wukong’s agility and quick thinking allowed him to counter each of the demon’s moves.

Seeking Assistance from the Dragon Kings

Despite Wukong’s efforts, the Golden-Headed Fish Demon’s control over the water proved to be a significant challenge. Realizing that he needed help to defeat the demon, Wukong decided to seek assistance from the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas, who were the rulers of all aquatic creatures.

Wukong quickly left the battlefield and traveled to the Dragon Kings' palaces, where he explained the situation and requested their aid. The Dragon Kings, who had previously encountered the Golden-Headed Fish Demon and were aware of his destructive nature, agreed to help.

The Dragon Kings provided Wukong with a magical net, imbued with the power to trap and subdue water demons. Armed with this new weapon, Wukong returned to the Flowing Sands River to confront the Golden-Headed Fish Demon once more.

The Defeat of the Golden-Headed Fish Demon

With the help of the magical net, Wukong was able to trap the Golden-Headed Fish Demon, preventing him from using his control over the water. The demon, now unable to summon his powerful waves and whirlpools, was quickly overpowered by Wukong.

The disciples, led by Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, joined the battle and helped to restrain the demon. Together, they managed to capture the Golden-Headed Fish Demon, ending his reign of terror over the Flowing Sands River.

The local inhabitants, who had long feared the demon, were overjoyed by the pilgrims' victory. They expressed their deep gratitude to Tripitaka and his disciples, offering them provisions and safe passage as they continued their journey.

With the Golden-Headed Fish Demon defeated, the group was able to cross the Flowing Sands River safely and resume their pilgrimage. The encounter served as a reminder of the dangers that lurked on their path, but it also reinforced the importance of seeking help when needed and working together to overcome obstacles.
